Dr. Denne's academic interests involve the investigation of normal and abnormal glucose and protein metabolism in premature and term newborn infants. Employing stable isotope methodology, studies investigating altered glucose and protein utilization in various newborn pathophysiologic states (small for gestational age, infant of diabetic mother, extreme prematurity) are being conducted. Additional study protocols aimed at determining optimal nutrition (enteral and parenteral) for the newborn infant are also under active investigation.
