Research, teaching and clinical care are essential components of a well-rounded fellowship training program. Excellence in clinical care is dependent upon application of new knowledge as it emerges from research and development. Many questions and hypotheses, which have stimulated scientific investigation in perinatal medicine, have emerged from challenges encountered during the provision of care to critically ill neonates. Therefore, we believe an excellent fellowship program requires equilibrium among clinical exposure, teaching opportunities and well-elaborated scientific investigation.

Ultimate success of the training program rests upon the interest, dedication and motivation of both the trainees and the faculty. The faculty at Indiana have broad experience in neonatology and are committed to providing fellows with the best possible experience. Our superb physical environment, extraordinary clinical services and varied research interests permit us to carry out our mission of preparing neonatal fellows for a career in academic medicine, who are excellent clinicians and superb teachers.
